about a boy

Hello there!

It's 5 am where I am now and it's a long story why I'm already up at this hour. Anyway, I figured since I won't be getting back to sleep soon, I might as well find some lost time and get a post out!

I'm such a slow scrapper sometimes and I wonder if a project ever gets done. This is one of those, haha. I originally intended it for a Sketchabilities entry but because I was so late, it kind of just got lost. So here it is:

I hardly scrap for my youngest so this one had to be about him. For this layout, I used Crea Diem collection from Maja Design. They have real amazing color palettes and a vintage that make my heart beat a little faster. If you saw my previous post, they are having a great giveaway now for their new Autumn collection!

And some closeups:

A little tab from Crate Paper, amongst layers of papers, washi tapes, gauze, stamped flowers, die cut doily...

Bits of the background - gesso with mists and textured paste on stencil....

A resin cherub because youngest is such an angel....

Some journalling beneath the title.

That's all I have, thanks for looking!

Vintage Autumn giveaway at Maja Design

Wow wow wow!

Have you seen Maja Design's latest collection - Vintage Autumn basics? It's got such a rustic feel to it with it's charming pinks and blues and I'm falling in love all over again!

A sneak from their website:

I spy so many cool elements for fussy cutting and tucking under flowers and other elements, pretty papers that I can layer and layer... this is definitely my must-get for this year!

The good people at Maja Design are also having a giveaway for this collection. Just follow the instructions on their blog to stand a chance to win. So good luck to me, and you!

lazy saturdays...

Hello everyone! Quite rarely do I get to blog twice in a week and I thought I better since the youngest is having one of his long naps, eldest is happily entertained by Bob the Builder and preparations for the dinner party tonight is all done.

I had quite a fair bit of 7 Dots Studio papers lying around from the tie-up they had with the Paperhaus magazine in July. So I took out my stash of pre-wedding photos and tried to do something about them. This is the end result....

The collection I used was "All I Ever" and it's got lovely purples, grays, pinks and some browns. Here I chose purple as my base with dashes of pinks here and there. I've realised that purple is not exactly an easy color to scrap but I quite like the cool and romantic feel it conveys.

Some close-ups:

Prima goodies - blooms and trinkets layered on top of the die cut sentiments from the collection

Using the sticker borders under lace and a stamped gramaphone from Kaiserkraft.

One of my favourites from the collection - sticker words! Ink the edges a little and they make the perfect addition to any project. Did some gesso stamping as well and if you want to know how I did it, here's a little tutorial I did some time back.

I've really come to appreciate how these smaller flowers help to fill out a cluster so nicely!

Layering lace, trims, papers, resist canvas, gesso, stamping... oh my...... so much fun!

That's all I have to share for now. And since the youngest is still sleeping, I think I'll go start a new project. Watch out for it soon!

Holiday blues

Hi everyone!

This will be a quick post since I'm squeezing it in during my lunch break. It's been a really tiring week with the boys and the entire family including my folks down with a virus. While I planned to finish up so many half-done projects after putting baby down for the night, I seemed to have put myself to bed as well. Hmm....

Anyway, the super long weekend here in Singapore was just over - FOUR whole days of fun and play and no work!! Coming back to the office on Monday, I did feel a little sad. So I used this as my desktop picture to chase away those holiday blues:

The photo was taken of the beach on Cocoa Island Maldives where we spent a lovely two days doing nothing but veg and dive and eat and drink and veg more. One of the quickest layouts I've ever did as well in just under 1.5 hrs! Don't you love the background paper? It's from 7 Dots Studio and the layout was featured in the PaperHaus magazine and 7DS tie-up week! 7DS has a couple of new collections out now - 9th Wave and Messy Head and I'm just dying to get my hands on those...

Well, lunch hour's up and it's back to work. See you all soon!

love,
Jelissa
