Hello people!
Sneaking in mid-week with my entry for this month's Prima BAP. The sketch is designed by one of my very talented team-mates on Blue Fern Studios, and she's none other than the fabulous Keren Tamir.
Here is the sketch she created...
And my take on it:
I used the new Epiphany collection from Prima (my favourite till date) for the background and layering papers, as well as the bird cage stamps from that collection. Just love the subtle tones of gold, peach and teal in these papers and I've matched my paints and flowers with this palette. This is one of the very rare photo of me and my eldest (when there were just 3 of us) on his first holiday trip to Taiwan. Hubby snapped a photo of us and it was the boy's first time feeding ducks at one of the tourist spots.
Some close ups:
I stamped the bird cages on one of the patterned papers and fussy cut them out for more dimension. I also used the wire trim to create a frame tucked between my paper layers and added some crystals on it. If you remember, Blue Fern Studios has a chipboard design called "Beaded Strings" and that was the effect I wanted to re-create here. The flowers, wooden frame, resin feather and wire trim were brushed with gesso, and highlighted with either Shimmerz Inklings or Silk Acrylics. There's also a real feather which we picked up from our recent trip to the Bird Park and I tucked it in behind the flowers.
Some flowery fun! I've layered the roses and flatter paper flowers and painted them over with Inklingz and Silks. Same goes for the bird cage piece and the wood title. Again, me being me (unable to follow rules), I've moved the title over to underneath the photo. For my background, I've done some random stamping and also a little bit of texture paste over the Bubbles stencil from Prima.
Another bird cage which I had stamped and cut out, plus a wood piece which I've painted over with some Silks. To make the Silks more fluid, I used 13@rts' liquid medium (I call it Magic Medium). It gives additional body to the Silks without diluting the intensity of the color. LOVE my Magic Medium!
The other cluster. I had so much fun altering the white flower with Inklingz and bleeding the color for an ombre effect. There's also a doily which I die cut out from one of the Prima metal dies and you can also find pieces of this tucked in all over the layout. The Elemental metal flowers were painted over with Silks and I added some crystals just to finish up the layout.
So that's all I have to share today. Thanks so much for dropping by!
