Get down to it!

Wow, it's been so long since I last updated my blog. Now that everyone's moved to Tweets, I wonder how relevant it is to continue blogging. But there's no other platform for me to continue talking as much as I want (FB status also has a word limit) so I'm still here.

This blog will take on a new direction. It will be a place where I write about the things I see everyday, events that take place and also for me to satisfy my exhibitionist tendencies. Haha, I'm talking about my scraps layouts.

Anyway, do check back for updates. I'm about to go on a one-week break before starting work (that itself is another story) so I will try and find time to doodle some thoughts when my baby boy is napping.

Is McCain really the same as Bush?

Despite what people say about McCain, he's really not McSame. Here are some reasons why.

1. McCain has a receding hairline. George is well, a Bush.

2. They have different preferences for pets. McCain's a pitbull with lipstick. Bush likes goats.

3. McCain was a POW. Bush makes POWs.

4. McCain is an Arizonian boy who went to naval academy and became a boxer. Bush was a West Texan girl who went to an all-boys private school and became the head cheerleader.

5. McCain hopes his tax cuts will help put food on Joe the plumber's table. Bush just wants to put food on his family.

6. McCain wants to hold teachers accountable for proper education. Bush just wants to spank them.

7. McCain is often misunderstood as Bush. Bush is just misunderestimated.

8. McCain opposes abortion rights because he holds human lives in high regard. Bush just holds them with no disregard.

9. McCain hasn't had the chance to kill any South African president. Bush killed Nelson Mandela.

10. McCain's much better than Bush at math - he can subtract 200 from 1976.

OK, the REAL reason I'm here....

Had a run-in with a fellow blogger on Multiply. My Facebook status and the ensuing comments update says it all.

Since I'm brain-damaged and prone to amnesia, I will repeat myself here.

It all started with a lady commenting on the foreign workers in her HDB estate located in the western part of Singapore. She definitely spared no details and left no stone unturned when it came to expressing her disgust for these "lower lifeforms". She went to the extent of shunning them like plague and I quote "I will not touch anything that they have touched because they are so dirty".

Singaporeans and discrimination. Sounds like good debate fodder for me. And I was spoiling for some good cerebral physiotherapy.

So the point of views started arrowing around, and always with the same disclaimer from her "this is my blog, I am free to share my opinion and I will not change my view no matter what others say." OK, fine. I'm there to air my views as well. And my arse too 'cos this stocking is giving me heat rash.

Anyway, it ended with her calling me names, and her friend asking me not to visit the entry again because "reading it made me upset". More like she felt that I was upsetting her friend the blogger.

I signed off by saying "if she feels comfortable enough opening such a can of worms, she should be open to other people's point of view as well instead of just expecting others to accept hers."

But it did dawned on me that women, at least this bunch of people I came in contact with, are generally quite bad at arguments. What started out as a logical posting disintegrated into an emotional outburst with cries of abuse and discrimination against those who stay in HDB (hello!!! despising FW is not ah?!), evolving into "ok lor, I'm an ugly singaporean lor." and "wah, princess is so noble ah, can understand the woes of others".

So here I am, escaping from a bunch of nitwits and hoping for a wider range of audience.

is because I got bored. Well, not really.

This is not my first blog. I keep another one on Multiply. But realizing that it's a global village and I live in a flat world and in time of bad economy it's always good to diversify and it's fashionable to keep more than one blog and yadda-yadda, I have decided to move some of my writings to a different host.

Hmm, host. I feel like a parasite.

Anyways, so tune in regularly. I'll try my best to write something worthy of reading and perhaps you'll be interested/tickled/provoked/angered/stimulated (*delete as appropriate) to leave a shout-out.
